isn't it funny how someone can say a line and it reminds you of an entire song?
this past weekend was memorial day.
i hated seeing all the dramatic "i owe the military my life for my freedom" crap on the fb. not that i don't appreciate those in the military, because they are doing what they love and feel is right, and i definitely couldn't do their job. however, i don't feel like i owe them my life.
(please keep the hate comments to a minimum)
so.
while everyone was doing the big family barbeques and patriotic things, i made things.
on saturday i dragged my little brother around to JoAnn's fabric. in return i went to the comic book store with him. i always forget how much i love fabric stores. i could have spent hours (more than i already did) in there! i went in originally just for a pattern and fabric for pillows. my loot?
five patterns. when they're 5 for $5 you have to take advantage
fabric for pants
fabric for pillows
four pillows
thread for all fabric
.the fabric.
.the pillows.
and i love them
its funny how proud you can be of something that you've created even when its as simple as a pillow.
so that was sunday. all day.
sewing. sewing. sewing.
and i loved it.
i also went to see men in black 3 with the fam.
monday morning consisted of simple pleasures.
until i was guilted to go outside and help with yard work.
also got to help dad work on his car. after lots of swear words and many trips to the store we finally got the battery replaced.
success!
it was dad's turn to choose what kind of cupcakes he wanted.
they turned out awesome!
much better than the mexican hot chocolate
the frosting was a meringue. normally i don't love meringue (or whipped cream or any of those yucky fluffy things) but the flavour of this was so good that i just had to love it.
tasted just like a vanilla latte. just... in.. cupcake form.
ended the weekend with an old fashioned and the hulk.
and that's that folks.
